ANT to Ensure thorough Planning and Discipline in Governance

Monday 30th, 2020, Presidential candidate Mugisha Muntu campaigned in Wakiso District. He was accompanied by among other leaders, Head of Women League, Amb. Edith Grace Sempala and Party Spokesperson, Counsel Wilberforce Seryazi.

As seems to be the norm for security agencies these days, the Presidential Candidate was barred from accessing most of the areas at which he and the team had earlier planned to campaign.

“In total disregard of communication from the Electoral Commission, security agencies have blocked us from talking to the people in Nakiwogo, Kigunga, and Kitooro in Entebbe. Nonetheless, we were warmly welcomed in Kitubulu, and like everywhere we have been, the desire for change is deep,” Mugisha Muntu said.

While addressing the people in Wakiso, Mugisha Muntu asked Ugandans to scrutinize the ten opposition candidates and identify the most suitable candidate who will guide this country to the right path. He said that from where the country is, Gen. Museveni is going to leave Uganda in shambles, and this would require a combative leader who will pick the pieces and bring the country back on the right path.

“The challenges of corruption, moral degeneration, and sense of despair in the people can only be managed by a straightforward leader with high moral ground and integrity,” he said.

On reaching Lufuka, Ssabagabo-Makindye, Mugisha Muntu was disappointed by the poor drainage which has led to flooding, and displaced people from their homes. He attributed this to the unserious and irresponsible government in power.

He assured the people that the next ANT government will focus on urban planning and fundamentally restructure any areas near such channels and lines, and have the drainage systems done comprehensively so that water keeps flowing out and not end up flooding other areas. In the same vein, Mugisha Muntu said that the next ANT government will ensure low-cost and affordable housing to enable every citizen to live in a decent environment.

Mugisha Muntu further spoke on the issue of healthcare where he promised citizens that the next ANT government will establish a national insurance scheme to enable low-income earners to access specialized healthcare with ease. He revealed that it is practically impossible for any government to depend on the budget as the only source of funding for healthcare services. He, therefore, pointed out that the national health insurance scheme will sort this mess in the next ANT government.

He also said that the next ANT government will put much emphasis on controlling the brain drain which has greatly compromised the health sector, and that this will be done through improving the working environment for health workers in Uganda. Mugisha Muntu said that all these will be possible with a disciplined government that puts people at the center of planning.

Regarding tourism, Mugisha Muntu said that the next ANT government will revamp tourism and make it one of the greatest sources of revenue. He revealed that much emphasis will be placed on training, extending incentives, and investing in marketing. “We have a problem of marketing and training. This government started a training school in Jinja at Crane Hotel, and if you went there for a hotel service today, that’s when you will realize that the entire sector has a problem.

We will ensure that marketing is enhanced, and hospitality training is given priority," He said. He further stressed that the next ANT government will establish a Uganda Development Bank where local investors interested in investing in tourism and hospitality will get credit at a low-interest rate.

The Presidential Candidate further spoke of establishing an agricultural bank that will enhance the commercialization of agriculture. He said the government will invest in agricultural value chain management to break the cycle of subsistence farming. Mugisha Muntu said that our rate of food production must match population growth, and this can only be achieved through heavy investment in the sector by the government and continuous monitoring by the people in charge.

On education, Mugisha Muntu said that the current universalization policy of education in primary and secondary will be enhanced to match the standard of private institutions.

He expressed that without quality education, development cannot take off. Mugisha Muntu said that the next ANT government will ensure that there is quality in human resources, school facilities, and inspection.

He added that this will ensure quality output in terms of well-trained human resources that will be the bedrock for industrialization and other sectors of the economy.

Presidential Candidate Mugisha Muntu concluded the day by asking people to vote out Gen. Museveni and enable the country and all entire agencies to relax from the excessive pressure that he has exerted on them to extend his stay in power.
