Jubilation as Mugisha Muntu gets Nominated

On 3rd November 2020, Mugisha Muntu Gregg, the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) Presidential candidate was officially nominated by the Electoral Commission at Kyambogo University grounds. The nomination for the 2021-2026 Presidential elections continues to be a moment of jubilation for all ANT supporters all over Uganda and abroad. 

 

The nomination programme started at 7:00 Am with the arrival of supporters from all over the country at the ANT Party Headquarters on plot 87 Buganda road. All donned in lilac purple colour, supporters were seen cheering and waving at each other with smiling faces chanting the name #Muntu. Other supporters took to social media to cheer and send their best wishes ahead of nominations.  

 

At 2:00 pm EAT, Mugisha Muntu and his delegation started the journey from the party headquarters to the Kyambogo University grounds.  The delegation consisted of his wife Ms. Julia Kakonge Muntu; the ANT Ag. Interim Coordinator, Hon. Alice Alaso; Interim Women League Coordinator, Amb. Edith Grace Sempala; Interim Youth Coordinator, Abubakar Matanda; and the Chief of Electoral Affairs, Mr. Dan Mugarura Bakaaki. The nomination procedure transpired as anticipated. The process was smooth and at 3:00pm, Mugisha Muntu Gregg was declared a Presidential candidate for the 2021-2026 general elections. 

 

Muntu's nomination was broadcasted live by the different national media houses and through social media platforms. Purple materials ranging from masks, armbands, T-shirts, shirts, and caps were seen on Kampala streets as supporters headed to their home on Buganda road. In partnership with the Alternative D!gTalk, all activities were live streamed through the Alternative D!gTalk social media platforms and the Alliance for National Transformation Facebook Page. 

 

At 4:00pm, with gratitude and enthusiasm, Presidential Candidate Mugisha Muntu hosted a nomination press briefing at the ANT Headquarters. Amidst cheers from his supporters and the media, Muntu thanked all the leadership and supporters of ANT for their efforts and commitment to the journey to realise the party’ Transformation Agenda. He emphasized that as a country, we are at the moment in our history where we must break away from the past and build a new future. He asserted that in this election, we are not looking at individuals who will remove those in power but choosing the right leadership that will capture the power and use it responsibly to transform the lives of the people.
