Mugisha Muntu: A value-based government with Strong Institutions is what ANT Will offer

On 12th November 2020, the Presidential candidate Mugisha Muntu together with the Campaign task force team led by Hon. Winnie Kiiza was embraced amidst delights from supporters and well-wishers in Kajara and Rushenyi constituencies in the Ntungamo district.

The Presidential candidate was accompanied by the ANT district party leaders that included, George Karamira, ANT flag bearer Chairman District of Ntugamo; MP Gerald Karuhanga who is the incumbent MP and party flag-bearer for Ntungamo municipality, Sayuni Mbikeize Cranimh Women MP flagbearer, Ntungamo District, Naboth Baryahabwe MP flagbearer Kajara Constituency, Oba Mutuhe Kinono Chairman LCIII flagbearer Rwashamire Town Council, other candidates in various leadership positions as well as the ANT leadership structures in both Kajara and Rushenyi constituencies. In the Kajara constituency, Mugisha Muntu officiated the opening of the party office in Rwashemire Town Council.

While addressing supporters at Rwashamire playground, Presidential candidate Mugisha Muntu revealed to the cheering crowd that dishonesty kills everything including a nation, family, mosque, church, and even a clan. He made these remarks about the current state of affairs in Uganda’s politics that emanated from the dishonesty that preceded the 2004 lifting of the age limit, which was a safety net for Uganda’s progressive governance.

Mugisha Muntu affirmed that the country is now at the crossroads because of the betrayal by the leaders then which resulted from dishonesty. My colleagues and I tried our level best to convince Gen. Museveni to mind about his legacy but the then dishonest leaders connived with him and led the country to where it is today.

Mugisha Muntu told excited supporters that ANT is composed of honest leaders with integrity who do not posture and deceive. He voiced out that as ANT, they recognize the fact that as a country we are entering into an election at a time when the country is at the crossroads.

Whatever the path the country will choose, it will decide on whether we get peace or take a slippery direction. He cited the case of the just-concluded violent NRM primaries that saw the party failing to decide on who to carry its flag in both Sembabule and Isingiro districts.

It is from this background that Mugisha Muntu cautioned the citizens to take on the responsibility of liberating the country since the choice is in their hands.

Mugisha Muntu told a motivated cheering group of supporters in Rubare town council, Rushenyi County to entrust him with leadership owing to his clean record of integrity, honesty, and emotional stability. Muntu asserted that he can never get drunk or tempted by either money or power or honors, citing that he has ever been in high positions at a younger age and remained calm all through.

Presidential candidate Mugisha Muntu highlighted the dire need for building institutions to streamline the service delivery in the country.

He sympathized with Ugandans who have for long suffered from politicians who have mastered the art of deceiving and posturing. He stressed that these leaders have made it a habit of moving around the country promising heaven and earth and fail to deliver in the end.

Muntu attributed this to individualized politics where an individual feels that he can do everything without consulting anyone. He emphasized that ANT will focus on building strong institutions and emphasize collective responsibility in leadership. Emphasis will be placed on discipline in financial appropriation and allocation, army, police, intelligence services, foreign services, all the ministries, and government departments.

Presidential candidate Mugisha Muntu concluded his day in the Rwampara district where the district elders gifted him with a spear, shield, and stool as a blessing in his journey to state house early next year.
