Vote for a Credible Team, Not an Individual - Mugisha Muntu

Tuesday 1st December 2020, Presidential Candidate Mugisha Muntu held campaigns in North Buganda specifically in the areas of Luweero, Nakaseke, and Nakasongola. He was accompanied by the Women’s League Leader, Amb. Edith Grace Sempala and other ANT leaders and flag bearers in the area. Mugisha Muntu asked the people in this area to exercise consciousness in the upcoming elections by voting for change at all levels. He said that if it was not for the hypocrisy of some members of parliament who connived with Gen. Museveni to amend the constitution and remove the term limits and later the age limit in 2004 and 2017 respectively, this country would be different.

Presidential Candidate Mugisha Muntu urged Ugandans to vote for opposition leaders at all levels if they want to get rid of the corrupt NRM system that has nothing much to offer in terms of national development. He said that it makes no impact to vote for an opposition Presidential Candidate and vote for an NRM Member of Parliament or Chairman LCV or Councilor at other levels. He asked people to overhaul the system from the top to the bottom to realise the bright future of Uganda.

On service delivery, Mugisha Muntu said that the next ANT will ensure the development of transport infrastructure particularly feeder roads in rural communities. He said that feeder roads will specifically help to enhance the production and marketing of agricultural products. The presidential candidate expressed that this would have a direct impact on more than 75% of the population who depend on agriculture for livelihood. Besides improving transport infrastructure for agricultural transformation, the focus will also be placed on value chain management right from production, aggregation, to processing, and marketing.

"It is something so funny to find Ugandans importing pineapple juice from a desert country like UAE, yet our country is endowed with fertile soils for fruit growing. Investing in value addition is something very cheap and easy to do if you have a government that cares. This is what our government will prioritize,” he said.

The Presidential Candidate further expressed his disappointment about the abject poverty that the people of Luweero are locked up in, despite the sacrifices made by their forefathers during the NRA war. He said that it is against this background that the people in the area should participate in voting Gen. Museveni and NRM out of power. He promised that the next ANT government will prioritize service delivery and make sure that the area is rehabilitated from the past war scars that have stayed for over three decades now.

Mugisha Muntu concluded the day by asking people in the area to scrutinize the manifestos of the other opposition candidates saying “…look at the team behind each of the candidates, and make an informed decision on which team to vote in leadership.” He said that the only gift that Ugandans can award themselves is to vote Gen. Museveni and his team out of power and bring in a new disciplined team to move the country forward.
