We will Lead this Country based on Truth and Transparency

Monday 23rd November 2020, Presidential Candidate Mugisha Muntu spent the whole day canvassing in the areas of Kakumiro, Kibaale, and Kagadi. Mugisha Muntu was accompanied by the head of Campaign Team Hon. Winnie Kiiza, the Western Regional Coordinator Mr. Wabyona Jackson, the Bunyoro Sub Region coordinator Mr. Ismail Kasule, other ANT candidates in the area, and ANT grassroots leaders.

Mugisha Muntu reassured the people in the said three areas that ANT will lead this country based on truth and transparency. He said that the ANT government will give a listening ear to the dissenting voices to find solutions to our national challenges. In his view, once a leader fails to listen to the people, it automatically generates a national crisis.

Mugisha Muntu called out Gen. Museveni hypocrisy, who having previously criticized the past government national security’s killing its people was now a leader of a security system that is doing the same thing. He cited some of the incidents that Museveni used to refer to such as the Nakulabye and Entebbe road massacre of university students. “We are in very sad and interesting times and we need urgent solutions,” he said.

Regarding poverty eradication and enhancement of the National Economy, Presidential candidate Mugisha Muntu said that when elected, he would increase the agricultural budget from the current 3% to 10% following the Maputo declaration. Mugisha Muntu revealed that currently, the sector employs more than 75% of the population, an indication that once empowered, it can directly transform the lives of millions of Ugandans. Mugisha Muntu added that establishing an agricultural bank and reviving farmers' cooperative societies would greatly transform the sector from subsistence to commercial.

Concerning education, Mugisha Muntu expressed that the next ANT government will build strong systems to redirect the sector from being theoretical to a practical one. He added that there is no need for anyone to study for very many years unaware of what he/she will become in the future, an issue that has increased unemployment in the country. He decried millions of talents that this country has lost because of a lack of systems to identify these talents in childhood.

“Identifying talents early through education will help the ANT government to sort the problem of unemployment but also the country will earn a lot from the sports and performing arts industry as it is, in the countries like Nigeria, India, the US and others,” he said.

Presidential candidate Mugisha Muntu also addressed the concern over population explosion in Uganda. “Uganda has over 40 million people and this population will multiply two and a half times in the next 25 years to be 100 million,” he said. To manage this population and its needs, there is a need for high-level planning, and this requires a government that puts people at the center and plans in advance instead of waiting for challenges to occur.

This planning must entail all sectors of development including education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, among others, and the ANT government is ready and able to do this.

Mugisha Muntu concluded his canvassing in Bunyoro by asking the people to entrust him and ANT with leadership, for a peaceful transformation of our Uganda from the cancer of corruption, poor planning, injustices, and gross inequalities.
